Metacognitive prompting & confidence calibration

Metacognition can be partially induced in the model itself. Metacognitive prompting
structures a response into stages that emulate human self-monitoring — understanding
the input, forming a preliminary judgment, critically evaluating that judgment,
reaching a final decision with explanation, and assessing confidence. Students
connect this back to Reflexion (self-critique as induced metacognition) and learn
why a model's stated confidence must be calibrated and treated with caution rather
than trusted at face value.
